Hi, thanks for visiting A Ticket To Kona. Below is an email that you could contact me at. I'd love to hear from you. Before sending an email, please review the following as it might help in answering some questions that I frequently receive.
Question Do you coach or can you coach me?
Answer I highly recommend that you get a coach as I have benefited greatly over the years learning from experts in the sport of triathlon. I don't coach athletes myself as I feel it is a big responsibility and a big time commitment. As I already have a very busy job in the investment management world along with writing for this site and doing my training, I don't feel I would be the best person for the job.
Question I have a specific question; can you give me an answer?
Answer I may not be able to respond to individual questions especially if they are related to your specific training or intended for an individual audience. I find that we each have unique needs and athletic levels and I wouldn't be able to provide the level of information that you are probably seeking. If anything, I hope that through reading the website that you often generate many questions. These questions are excellent platforms for discussion with your personal coach.
Question Who should coach me?
Answer I would do some research, ask some fellow athletes and put together a short list of possible coaching candidates. I would take the time to assess my own skills, level of commitment, time horizon and desires and write these down on a sheet of paper before talking to any of the coaches to help get organized. Finally, I would try to arrange a meeting if the coach is local or a phone conversation if the coach is not local to see if there is good chemistry. Ideally you should try to determine if the coach is best suited to meet the needs that you currently have. As time passes, you will develop as an athlete. Your body will continue to change, your fitness will change and your needs will change as you learn and develop a knowledge base. Try to identify a coach that is suitable to your specific needs. Finally, be aware that hiring a fast athlete may not result in fast personal times. There are coaches who are great athletes themselves and there are coaches with excellent science backgrounds and credentials who may not compete themselves. Some of the best coaches are not speediest athletes.
Question Well if you won't coach me or give me specific advice, what should I write to you about?
Answer I'd love to hear about your successes, your feedback on the site, what you like, what you would like to see more of and good stories. I'd like to get an email saying, "Hey Paully, I'll see you in Kona in October since I'll be racing."
Question I have a finance or investment question, can you help?
